What is "From Street to the Heart"?
“From the Street to the Heart” is a global contest inviting children and teens ages 4 to 17 to read aloud excerpts from the book “The Adventures of Cocoperro: The Yellow String” — a powerful story about resilience, dignity, and emotional transformation.
This initiative aims to strengthen emotional and expressive skills in young people, especially in vulnerable or emergency settings, using art and reading as tools for social change.
Who is Cocoperro?
Cocoperro is not just a character — he is a symbol of what thousands of children and adolescents around the world face and overcome every day.
📖 Born on the streets, without a name or family, Cocoperro finds his path to dignity through reading, affection, and self-expression.
His journey reminds us that:

✨ Every voice — no matter how small — holds the power to change the world
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Children and adolescents between 4 and 17 years old, of any nationality, language, region, or migration status.
Participants may join:
🧍 Individually (with help from a parent or guardian)
🏫 As part of a school, through a teacher or reading promoter
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
There are two ways to take part:
👤 Individual Participation
Open to all children and teens ages 4–17, from home or school.
Requirements:
✔️ Three read-aloud recordings (audio or video)
✔️ Motivational message
✔️ Creative photo in “Cocoperro Style”
✔️ Signed consent from a parent or guardian
🏫 School-Based Participation
Open to schools that register with a lead teacher and a team of student promoters (ideally from 11th grade).
May include:
📚 Cocoperro Reading Club
🎭 Theater play or short film based on the book
🎙️ Thematic podcast (audio or video)
Note: Schools must also submit photographic evidence, participant details, and materials created by their reading, theater, or podcast clubs.
